Finding Fire

Okay, despite the fact that I'm still warping my friends into the story--I actually would like to do a side one again. This is what happens when I'm crazed after three (now four) days non sleeping because a Insomnia. Not that anyone cares, but still.

Anywho, click below to read it. I don't feel like stretching my page.

Alyssa sighed, staring at the patterned ceiling of her ‘room’. It was actually shared….with some of the most annoying people on earth.

She missed Ravenwood.

Now, she was at Sultan’s Palace for Academy Academics. It was a mouthful to say.

The smoke made her brown eyes tear. She sat up, wishing she didn’t have to go. But of course, it was time for class…

She got up, dressing in her formal attire for battle. Pointy hat, strange kid-like robes and wrapped shoes, all dyed white and yellow. She grabbed the pointless magician’s wand and walked out to the main hall.

She was fire. Dressed like a myth. It was so wrong. But everyone there was myth, so she had to be myth too.

Alyssa was the first one there. She backed up a few paces from the designated dummy, and then made sure no one was around. Tracing the fire symbol, she went ahead and summoned a fire cat. It sat next to her as a loyal companion, and she dispelled it, hearing someone coming. It was replaced with the usual blue Cyclops.

“I see you are here early, Alyssa FireFlame.” Said the headmaster to her, grabbing her wand and forcing Alyssa to cast a Minotaur.

Wait! I don’t know Minotaur! She thought, panicking as she felt the energy draining from her. Her vision blurred, then all went black.

There was a throbbing in her head, the patterned ceiling was spinning, and her joints ached. Her whole body ached, actually. Attempting to sit up, a wave of nausea hit…she vomited into a vase set by her bed.

“Are you okay, Alyssa?” Asked her best friend, Cori Seasong. Alyssa focused her eyes, finding that her blue-haired friend indeed was there to help. She gave a weak smile before another wave of nausea hit. This one hit so hard, too. So much so that she collapsed right on top of the vase and it spilled, crashing down and breaking and splashing the contents everywhere.

“Alright now!” Cori groaned, sending a mental note for the cleaning bats to come. She then grabbed her best friend and teleported to the lake. From there she undressed her, cleaned her, set up protective barriers and an invisible charm, and left her in the water with her head propped on the dock so she could breathe. It was going to be a long week.

Finally, Alyssa was awake for good this time. Better yet, she was in water.

She was in water naked.
Dangit!

“Cori?” She mumbled, holding her breath and submerging. She re-surfaced her skin stinging. “What happened?”

“Well, headmistress Esmee had a little fault and made you cast a spell WAY over skill level. Then, you got burned… bad... you passed out, and you nearly died.”

“I… nearly died?” Repeated Alyssa, shaken.

“Yes. You’ve been out for six hours. Now, get up and get dressed. Go to your dorm again and pretend this never happened, pretend that you just caught a stomach bug but are fine. Go!” Cori said, handing Alyssa’s clothes to her and then teleporting away. Alyssa dressed and teleported to the alcove in her dorm, between the two sides.

It had been a long day.

“Is she okay?”

“I heard what happened.”

“She’s fine, you idiots! Go away! Get on your own side!”

I groaned, rolling over, noting the sheets were warmer than usual. I wasn’t wet with perspiration; where was I?

“Lyssie… open your eyes…” I heard, and I obeyed. I noted that Cori had taken down her hair, and it was plastered to her face like she was attacked with blue silly string. She was tired.

And then I noticed all the people surrounding me. All from the other side. All my enemies. But why were they here? Where was this? It confused her.

“Alyssa… you’re packed and all… Alyssa, we’re going to have to go back to Wizard City… it’s not safe anymore!” Cori was tearing up. As weak as I felt, I sat up and gave her a hug.

“Is there time?” I ask.

“No. Our headmistress… was Morganthe herself. We have to go, fast!” Cori stumbled, pulling Alyssa out of bed in one graceful motion. Alyssa didn’t even realize she liked this at the time.

“Let’s go home, Cori.” Alyssa said. She pulled out her wand and traced the teleport symbol…

And they were off.
